Suro
Mike Inay
Mr. Link's
Grandmaster, Mangisursuro (Suro) Mike Inay, pictured here to
the right of Mr. Link, studied Eskrima under the men that were
responsible for the birth of Eskrima in the United
States; Grandmaster Angel Cabales and Master Max
Sarmiento. Mike Inay started with these two gentlemen in
1966. They taught him exclusively on a private lesson
basis. After he became proficient, he worked hard to
help create a structure that future students would
follow. This included creating, designing, and printing
the ranking system still used by practitioners today.
Suro led the way for his style. Suro
passed away in September of 2000. He had become a big
part of our Link's Martial Arts family. He brought with
him love and dedication for his art. Suro had trained in
the martial arts for over 30 years. He founded the
Inayan System of Eskrima. Suro traveled throughout the
world training martial artists and law enforcement
officers. Many of our students had the opportunity to
train directly with him. Suro
Mike Inay will always be a part of our LMA schools. We
will continue to learn and grow in the Inayan Art of Eskrima
and ensure that Suro's dream to have his art live on will
become a reality. We are truly blessed for having known
him. Suro will be deeply missed.
The disciplines of
Link's Martial Arts include training in Tae Kwon Do,
Philippine Eskrima, and weapons. LMA Self -defense principles,
point sparring and personal self improvement round out the
curriculum.
